It is used in muscular pain, rheumatic complaints, muscle cramps etc. There are lot of rheumatic pain reliever oils available in Ayurveda (both classical and traditional) prepared with lot of ingredients. For example, Mahanarayana Thailam, Pinda Thailam, Kottanchukathi Thailam etc. Here, I am going to explain about the preparation of simple and effective Camphor oil with little ingredients.

Cedar wood – 1 Kg
Coconut Oil – 1 Kg
Pure and clean Ajowan – 2Kg
Cedar wood – 1 Kg
Coconut Oil – 1 Kg
Camphor -200 gm
The preparation given here is based on traditional Ayurveda method. This oil will be pale green in color apart from the camphor oil available in the market which is transparent. Above mentioned Ajowan and cedar wood should be smashed and mixed with 10 liters of water to prepare decoction/kwath and it should be reduced to 2 liters by heating.
Next the 2 liter decoction should be mixed with 1 kg of coconut oil and it should be heated until all the water content is evaporated. Now filter the content and pour into a dry vessel with 200gm of powdered camphor .Stir it continuously until the camphor dissolves into the oil. Let it cool down and then transfer it into a dry glass bottle.
Tips
How to check the water content in the oil?
Take a piece of white cotton cloth, dip it in the boiling content and ignite the cotton. If it burns without any noise, there is no water content in the oil. if it burns with sparkling noise, then we should understand that there is still water content in the oil.
